Bishop Mike Watson, newly assigned to the North Georgia Conference after serving eight years in South Georgia, comments on his new assignment in an e-mail to the Wesleyan Christian Advocate, the newspaper of the North and South Georgia Conferences.
Margaret and I deeply love the people, churches, and ministries of South Georgia…. Our eight years [here] have been among the best years of our lives. Words are inadequate to express our profound appreciation for the Christian love we have experienced in South Georgia….
[We are] are honored to remain in Georgia and to be assigned to serve the North Georgia Conference where Bishop and Mrs. Lindsey Davis have had such a productive ministry. It is a great conference for which we have the highest respect.
We already have many wonderful relationships with the laity, clergy, churches, and ministries in North Georgia, and we look forward to working with everyone in the conference to continue making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Bishop Watson begins his tenure in North Georgia on Sept. 1. A Service of Installation is scheduled for Sept. 7 at Dunwoody UMC, followed by a 3-6 p.m. “Welcome-to-North-Georgia” reception at Dunwoody (Google map).
