It is simply stunning that the Committee would say that the Social Principles are as crucial to the UMC defining itself as the Constitution, Doctrinal Standards, and mission statement.

Be prepared to follow the Episcopalians, ELCA, et al. into shrunken irrelevancy.

The three previous comments are on target. Most of us in the pew do not understand why the Bishops have to find another way around a constitutional and democratic decision by the members of our annual conferences.

Our church is losing members daily. If we lift Jesus up, He will draw all persons unto himself.

The Bishops and global agencies are unified in leading the American UMC towards homosexuality. The church will never be unified when their leaders oppose the unified voice of the faithful. The faithful have spoken legislatively, judicially, and constitutionally. The only division is administratively.

The Bishops and agencies oppose the UMC faithful. Nothing will change until the administrators are changed.

The foxes are in charge of the hen-house. You cannot tame foxes.

Response to Bishop Scott Jones’ address:

No one was fooled at the last General conference to know that the issue of splitting off the USA side of the UMC was an attempt by some to move the US church to embrace homosexuality. The defeated amendments showed clearly that we must hold firm to our Discipline and Biblical foundations.

Our Bishops must find some way of unifying the church rather than looking for loopholes. It’s too bad that the world has to watch as our church moves toward the future in an indecisive and non-directional manner. No wonder were losing members.
