Yes, both conservatives and liberals try to manipulate the system, but just look objectively at the ideological and geographical make-up of the current Judicial Council. I think this goes beyond what any fair democratic process should result in.

It's very hard to believe there's not something very troubling going on here. And this is not some corporate or political enterprise, this is a Christian organization. Let's stop dancing around this and call a spade a spade.

Not cloak-and-dagger, but basic politics created a liberal clique that produced fliers and influenced election of their candidates. Less open, but political maneuvering also had created the earlier Judicial Council dominated by conservatives.

The democratic (note small d) system is complicated, but we Methodists and Americans believe it is better than any other system yet devised — until the Lord God comes to make unnecessary human governance.

All this simply points to the covert nature of modern leftist activism within the United Methodist Church. When the light of day is given the opportunity to shine on what these left-wingers are actually doing, they don't look so good — sneaky, in fact. They take advantage of the fact that rank-and-file United Methodists are not paying attention, enabling them to divert attention from their true agenda, which has much more to do with politics than spirituality.

The cloak-and-dagger techniques they must employ to take over leadership positions in the UM speaks volumes. The current Judicial Council is not representative of United Methodists in general, and they are the ones who unwittingly fund this tomfoolery.

Maybe the liberal UM leaders are hoping the government will be bankrolling their Marxist initiatives by the time rank-and-file United Methodists catch on and pull the purse strings.
